I am thrilled to announce that we welcomed Alexia Grace LeFevre on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 3:13 p.m. She weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and was 19 inches long. She has an interesting birth story all her own, which I’ll share in a later blog post.
Since her birth, we’ve had both sets of grandparents travel from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, to visit us in Houston. Since one of my mom’s hobbies is photography, I asked her to do a newborn photo shoot of Lexi when they were in town. We broke down the photo shoot into two days, so we could concentrate on Lexi’s newborn photos while big brother, Levi, was at preschool. To achieve the best results, we had my mom taking pictures, my dad as the photography assistant holding up a white sheet or piece of paper as needed, and me dressing Lexi and keeping her from falling off the coffee table we converted into a cozy backdrop. On the second day, we attempted big brother/little sister photos as well as an impromptu family photo. Taking photos with a toddler turned out to be much more difficult than we anticipated, as Levi didn’t exactly cooperate. However, we ended up with a funny family photo showcasing how Levi feels about having a little sister. While our first few days home were chaotic, Levi has warmed up to Lexi. He’s interested in “baby”/”sister” (We’re working with Levi on saying “Lexi” or “Alexia.”) and frequently gives her kisses. So sweet!
